"Ganges" in Esquimalt Harbour
7th December 1858Sir,
In reply to your letter of the 20th Ultimo requesting that a
medical Officer if the Squadron under my orders may remain with the
troops stationed at Fort Langley, in British Columbia, I beg to place
the services of Dr. Mitchell, Supernumerary Assistant Surgeon of the
"Ganges", at your Excellency's disposal.
Dr. Mitchell will be borne on the books of the Senior Officer's
Ship in these waters for detached duty
